On May 27, 1999, the International Criminal Court, through the Canadian attorney general Louise Arbor, announced the indictment of war criminal to Slobodan Milošević and four other political leaders of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Slobodan was accused of crimes against humanity for the ethnic cleansing operations of the Yugoslav army against Muslims in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. Milošević was found dead in the Hague jail on the morning of March 11, 2006. Having been denied a state funeral, a farewell ceremony was held in the square in front of the Serbia-Montenegro federal parliament.
