On the 14th of April, 2013, the current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau became leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, one of the major Parties of the country which is the opposite of the Conservative Party. Justin Pierre James Trudeau was born on December, 25, 1971, in Ottawa, son of Pierre Elliott, Prime Minister from 1968 to 1979 e from 1980 to 1984.
Charismatic, young, progressive, the Canadian leader enjoyed great popularity: it was seen as a new figure, capable of leading a program of social renewal and paying attention to the importance of dialogue in multilateral forum. The victory of 4 November 2015 brought him to Government with 39,5% of votes, having a plan focused on economic opportunities for everybody, respect and promotion of equality and diversity and a strong action on climate change and environment[1]. The young Trudeau is still appreciated by his citizens, but at the end of 2019, he was overwhelmed by a scandal which put in doubt the possibility of being re-elected for a second mandate. The story of SNC-Lavalin concerns the prosecution, in charge of the Prime Minister, of having made pressure on the Justice Minister, Jody Wilson-Raybould, so that she would not intervene in an on-going process charged to the corporation, operating in the construction sector. The scandal lead to the resignation of three Canadian Ministers and it was a concerning factor for his possible re-election. Nonetheless, the results of the 21st of October 2019 confirmed Trudeau at the lead of the country, this time with 33% of votes. So, the Canadian leader was elected to represent the progressive realm of Canada for the following 5 years.
